What You'll See
The Experience
See the Reef From Above
Some experiences change how you see the world. Flying over the Great Barrier Reef is one of them.
From 3,500 feet, the reef transforms from an abstract concept into a living, breathing organism stretching to the horizon. The colours are extraordinary — deep navy channels between turquoise shallows, coral bommies glowing amber beneath the surface, and the occasional shadow of a manta ray gliding below.
The Heart Reef
The highlight of every flight is Heart Reef — a naturally formed heart-shaped coral formation that has become one of Australia's most iconic natural landmarks. Your pilot will circle the reef so every passenger gets the perfect photo.
Heart Reef is part of Hardy Reef and sits within a protected zone — you can't swim or snorkel here, which is why the aerial view is the only way to experience it. It's smaller than you'd expect (about 17 metres across), but the shape is unmistakable from the air.
Hill Inlet & Whitehaven Beach
The flight path takes you directly over Hill Inlet, where you'll see the famous swirling sand patterns from a perspective that even the lookout walk can't match. From the air, you can see the full 7km stretch of Whitehaven Beach — a ribbon of white against impossible shades of blue.
Who Is This Tour For?
This flight is perfect for anyone who wants to see the Whitsundays' most iconic sights without a full day on the water. It's especially popular with couples, photographers, and anyone short on time who still wants the "wow" moment.
No fitness required — you just sit, look, and take photos. The aircraft is pressurised and comfortable, and the flight is smooth in the early morning when thermals are calm.
